General objectives
The concepts of planetary change and sustainable development integrate
all of the direct and indirect effects related to human activities,
(industry, urbanization and agriculture) and their consequences
on the sustainability of our development: climatic change and its
impact on the water cycle, impact on the biogeochemical cycles and
biodiversity, pollution.
On the regional scale, various fields of research have been developed
in recent years corresponding to these various issues. Part of this
research is based on cooperation programmes already existing between
the various teams in the Rouen area involved in the field of the
environment:
M2 C UMR CNRS 6143
ECODIV UPRES EA 1293
LMDF UPRES EA 2123 site MSA (Genediv & Biodiversity and environment
groups)
The Research and Teaching Institute of Environmental Sciences
(IRESE) federates the skills in research and teaching on the
site of Mont-Saint-Aignan. In accordance with the Multiple Training
Project, it is also responsible for developing an interdisciplinary
approach (FRE 2795 IDEES Geography Rouen-MTG Le Havre-CIRTAI, UPRES
EA 2260 CARE Economics, FRE 2645 CNRS PSI, Modelling) on the following
topics:
- Consequences of climatic change and major risks
- Biodiversity and its dynamics with the structuring of a regional
workshop site
Solving scientific problems in terms of the environment requires
a systemic approach which completely overruns the traditional partitions
between laboratory disciplines. Setting up multidisciplinary research
programmes implies that the researchers develop cooperation programmes
with members of other laboratories with converging and complementary
objectives, and common sites for study. This approach has already
enabled joint publications by the various teams in this multiple-training
programme (PPF)).
The regional teams involved in this project
develop fundamental and applied research recognized in every field
of competence required for environmental analysis. The work of
these teams is recognized by the main organisations CNRS, INRA,
IFREMER, IRSN, BRGM
They have acquired an experiment in their fields enabling them
to meet the scientific objectives of the multiple-training programme
(PPF): acquisition of environmental data (metrology, physicochemistry,
chemical, microbiological and biological data), data processing
(conventional statistical treatment, data fusion, file restoration,
etc.), integration and interpretation by use of MIS in particular,
socio-economic analysis of the problems involved in the environment.
This multiple-training programme (PPF) has enabled the set-up
of a common technical platform, with tools dedicated to the issues
involved in the environmental approach on various scales of time
and space. The platform will form part of the IRESE, with new
buildings that are to be set up as part of the reorganisation
of the site of Mont-Saint-Aignan.
